In the community

What getting involved looks like.

Families, students, volunteers, and community leaders, coming together around culture, learning, and care for one another.

Internships

Learn the work from the inside.

HINA interns work beside the people who plan our missions, tell our story and keep the organization running. You leave with real experience in humanitarian work, community engagement and the Asia-Pacific region, and with a team that knows your name.

Washington, D.C. area

Student sponsorship

Backing students who lead.

HINA sponsors students who excel in their education and carry that drive into their communities. Our sponsored students represent HINA at school, at events and in the places we serve. In return, we stand behind them with support, mentorship and a network that opens doors.

Grants

Funding that reaches the ground.

HINA grants put resources behind projects that communities choose for themselves. Every grant follows the way we work: listen first, build with local leaders, and plan from day one for the community to carry the work forward.

Domestic grants

Community projects in the United States, starting with Hawaiʻi and the island of Molokaʻi.

International grants

Laos, Thailand, the Philippines and other communities across the Pacific region.

  • Clean water
  • Medical and vision care
  • Hygiene and meals
  • Education
  • Agriculture
  • Community building

Volunteer

Give your time, grow the reach.

Volunteers carry HINA into every gathering, fundraiser and community day. Lend a few hours or a skill you are proud of, and help the work go further than it could without you.

At events

Welcome guests, run a table and help set up at HINA gatherings and fundraisers.

With your skills

Writing, photography, translation, design or planning. Tell us what you do best.

Spread the word

Keep the conversation going.

Every introduction brings someone new to the work. Follow HINA, share our stories from the field and tell a friend, a classroom or your congregation why it matters.
