Privacy Notice
Effective October 1, 2026
Humanitarian Initiative for Native Advancement ("HINA," "we," "us") respects your privacy. This notice explains what information is handled when you visit hinapacific.org or contact us, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- When you contact us. If you email us, call us, or arrange a conversation with Dr. Lansing, we receive the information you choose to share, such as your name, email address, phone number, organization, and the content of your message.
- When you give. Gifts are arranged directly with HINA, not through this website. Any information needed to process a gift (for example, details for a wire transfer, donor-advised fund grant, or securities transfer) is collected at that time and used only for that purpose and for required acknowledgments and records.
- Automatically, by our web host. Like nearly every website, the company that hosts this site keeps standard server logs, which can include your IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and the date and time. These logs are used to operate and secure the site.
- Web fonts. To display its typefaces, this site loads fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests them, Google receives your IP address and browser information. See Google's Privacy Policy.
How we use information
We use the information you share to respond to you, to arrange and follow up on partnership conversations, to process and acknowledge gifts, to keep required financial and tax records, and to keep the website secure. We do not use it for advertising.
How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate (for example, our email and web-hosting providers, banks, or accountants), only as needed for that service, or when required by law, such as to comply with a legal obligation or protect the rights and safety of HINA and others.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising, or social-media tracking tools. Links to other sites (such as X, Facebook, or the Asia America Initiative) take you to services with their own privacy practices.
How long we keep information
We keep correspondence for as long as needed to respond and maintain a relationship you have asked for, and we keep gift records for as long as required by law and good nonprofit practice.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection with modern security settings. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive financial information by email.
Children
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you may ask us to stop contacting you at any time. Depending on where you live (for example, California or the European Union), you may have additional rights under local law; we will honor requests as those laws require. Because we do not track visitors, "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control signals require no further action on our part.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. The effective date above shows when it last changed.
